Ahh the secret door! All about the whimsy! I’ve focused on soil this week it’s the one thing I feel helps me feel productive in the garden in the depths of winter. 🌼✨
I’ve spent a lot of time wandering and planning. I have a LOT of gravel to shift so that’s my first task of the year. Once I get beyond that I can think about the soil 🪴🌱
Ahh Exciting - the before and after shots will be incredible. I love the physical stuff now I’ve got a bit of qi back after being poorly also keeps you warm doesnt it. I cleaned the chickens out today and popped all that in our compost - Dave usually does it but I’m trying to do it for the physical side and to give him a break!
I love the physical jobs and the sense of achievement afterwards but I have to be fore careful otherwise I end up with a sore back. I think I need to take up Pilates or something to help strengthen my core and protect myself from injury.
How magical is the secret door. I’m loving reading your substack. We only have a yard and I’m not greenfingered in the slightest but I’m determined to learn a little this year, for my sake and for my boys.
Thank you so much. I’ll be sure to share photos once it’s done ☺️
You can still do loads in a yard. Sunflowers, cosmos, dahlias, lobelia all do well in pots and are super simple. I’m certainly not an expert but happy to help if I can 🥰
I share your struggle with the darkness. Having a cosy moment in bed with breakfast and journalling is helping me through it all. Knowing that the light is ever so slowly growing brings hope. ❤️
I’ve found myself counting down days until the clocks change, which isn’t like me to be honest. I try hard to stay very present but it feels more of a struggle this year. Journaling and cosiness definitely helps. ✨🖋️
Sounds like everyone struggles more this year. The circumstances don't help. We've all been through a lot these recent years and I truly believe we are simply EXHAUSTED!

Ahh that would be a lovely complement to the graft of gardening!

Oh I agree completely.
